Are you Ready for E-learning?

Am I ready for e-learning? That can be a tough question if that question was posed a decade ago. But with the advent of new technologies in this time and age, I don’t think there is a reason for me to say no to e-learning. We are now in a globally competitive world and it is a mortal sin for any educated individual to never embrace the changes and advancement of education. It is survival of the fittest. Anyone who refuses to adjust in this dog-eat-dog society will always end up eaten alive.
E-learning literally stands for electronic learning and the mere mention of it sends shivers of fear along the spine of  anyone whose mind is never open for change. According to the coolest professor I have encountered, Randy Gamboa, E-learning may also stand for Education Learning. Yes. Indeed e-learning is education learning as it awakens our dormant consciousness on another face of education- that of electronic education.
In my first semester of immersing myself in the boiling waters of e- learning, I got a splash of realization. That e-Learning is the use of technology to enable people to learn anytime and anywhere. That e-Learning can include training, the delivery of just-in-time information and guidance from experts. That e-learning can be asynchronous wherein it lets people learn at anytime. This is commonly used in colleges and universities nowadays. Even in post graduate studies. What I am doing right now is an example of asynchronous e-learning. I get access of information from my professor anytime I want as soon as I open my yahoogroups account. Another type of e-learning is the so-called synchronous e-learning wherein it lets teachers conduct classes over the Internet. The synchronous technologies also allow people to interact with peers and experts. It also includes virtual classroom, audio and video conferencing, chat, shared whiteboard, application sharing, and instant messaging.
But regardless of what type of e-learning would be applied, asynchronous or synchronous, I think I am ready for anything. Possibilities are endless and I am open for any possibilities there can be. For an individual whose vision is to march on with greater heights in the field of education, e-learning is always a great option. E-learning is fun, cool, fresh, and new. It is I think the most novel way of delivering education to the learning public both young and old alike. The famous “Lola Techie” in the popular commercial about facebook can be the best inspiration for educated people from all walks of life and from various age brackets, that e-learning has no specific age to cater. For as long as that individual is open to hurdle new ventures and challenges, he/she is ready to face this competitive world. If ask again if I am ready for e-learning, like “Lola Techie,” I would say I LIKE E-learning and I am perfectly ready for it!

Will it be Worth It?

Is e-learning worth all the fuss?! Yes! Of course! E-learning is worth it as it opens doors of opportunities for educated people to learn conveniently disabling the use of traditional teaching-the blackboard-chalk-boring-teacher type of learning. It is about time for everyone to advance education notches higher as we are way too left behind from our neighboring countries in terms of technological advancement moreso in electronic learning. Few of our universities in the Philippines are embracing the modern learning methods of e-learning. Vast majority are still stuck on the paper-pencil tests, blackboard-chalk method of teaching, and other traditional teaching and learning methods.
Imagine this present world without computers, maybe you would visualize a very backward, lifeless, and barren world. Yes. The world is lifeless without computers and other modern technologies because what keeps the world moving now is technology. From the very basic transaction of purchasing products to the quick access of people from the outer space require the use of technology. I wonder what the world would be like without technology.  Business sectors are into technology. Government sectors are into technology as well. Name any sectors you can think of, they all have it.
The sector of education has to make its biggest leap by venturing into e-learning. This is the most logical thing to do in this present time and age. Any educational institution who is not resilient to the changes this modern times bring, will always fall on the pit of ignorance and illiteracy. In order to compete in this fast-changing world, we need to be resilient and ready to be pulled out from our comfort zones at anytime! Leave the traditional ways and face the modern world with confidence, willingness, and hearts that are open for change.
Is E-learning worth it? I would say: I’ll bet my life for it...

Redemption and release...

I am now sitting here inside my office recalling the series of events yesterday. It was not really a spectacular day as what I did was mainly to disinfect the office from all the bacteria and any forms of germs that actually infested my office. I got sick last monday and that was basically the reason why I had to be absent. I need to recover. I still have 4th year classes to attend to aside from my doctoral classes on weekends. A teacher and student molded in one-that is what I am. I redeemed my office...i asked for help of some friends to clean up the entire area. that includes the use of lysol, zonrox, powdered soap, a pail of water...and even an air freshener to clean up the bacteria-infested air that we keep on gasping every hour of everyday.Poor lungs! What has it done to deserve this abuse?! Now, im practically relieved from all the diseases i've been dreading...I'm actually looking forward for a brighter day ahead. No more flood please! :-)

a touch of sand

this pic was taken at panglao beach at bohol...white sand and pristine waters...this is one helluva paradise!!!

the look of innocence...

Our stay in Bohol became more meaningful when we met these innocent kids who were kind enough to reach out to us when they returned that pink cap that fell to the sea water few feet away from where we stood.

Never thought that this simple act of kindness would mean big for us.  Goodness is everywhere. It dwells  even among innocent children...

can't get enough...

When I woke up this morning, i had a melancholic way of facing the dawn of this new day.

This day brings me to a new level of perspective...a perspective that is fresh yet nostalgic of my gloomy yet hopeful past...

the pic here was taken during my wonderful trip in bohol last May of this year 2011...

as the pic suggests, this is indeed a whole new experience with a breathtaking sight to behold...

tired yet still cute....

Life may sometimes bring us to a different level of emotions. Life may bring joy, sadness, excitement, boredom, and now evidently on my part, it brings exhaustion. Got these pics of exhausted creatures which brought a smile to my face.Enjoy these pics as much as i did.
over my dead cute body...
penny for your thoughts?
lean on me...
i wonder whose feet were those?

Miracle Water

I got this rare opportunity to go to Dauis Church of Bohol where the famous well is exactly situated at the altar of the church.

This well is believed to have produced a miraculous holy water which was said to heal the sick.

I and my friends were fortunate enough to get some and that made our day...
